Parliament's Tavan Tolgoi working group has been established today to make conclusions on discussions by Parliament on measures to be taken for the development of the Tavan Tolgoi coal deposit, the Tavan Tolgoi investment agreement, and changes to the agreement.
Member of Parliament L.Erdenechimeg will serve as head of the working group. MPs A.Bakei, Su.Batvold, O.Baasankhuu, D.Gankhuyag, S.Ganbaatar, B.Narankhuu, D.Symiyabazar, M.Sonompil, and B.Choijilsuren have been included in the working group.
The group will adhere to guidance under 14 articles, including the following:
- Whether the agreement is in conjunction with the valid parliamentary resolutions and resolutions approved by the relevant standing committees,
- Whether the agreement meets the standards set for national security, recommendation of the National Security Council, and other related governmental decisions, and the related decisions of other state organizations,
- Whether the agreement is in conjunction with the third neighbor country foreign trade policy,
- Whether the agreement meets the interests of the people and enterprises who own 1,072 shares in Erdenes Tavan Tolgoi.
