The Minister of Foreign Affairs, L.Purevsuren, gave a speech at the ministerial conference at the Asian-African Summit being held in Jakarta, Indonesia, on the topic “Strengthening the co-operation of southern countries for the peace of the world, development and prosperity".
In his speech, the Minister noted that 76 percent of the world's population lives in Africa and Asia, and constitute 30 percent of the world's GDP. The Minister stressed that Asian and African countries have a wide range of possibilities to contributing to global peace and security, the development of democracy, good governance, and equal development of all nations. He added that Mongolia is fully maintaining the objectives and principles of new strategic partnerships with African countries, guided by the objectives of the Asian-African Conference.
Minister L.Purevsuren said that Mongolia is making its contribution to South-South cooperation by maintaining a policy that land locked developing countries (LLDCs) should actively participate in events and meetings, to share experience and lessons learned with other countries with other LLDCs and establishing an international LLDC fund.
This year the Asian-African Conference, also known as the Bandung Conference, celebrated its 60 year anniversary with 5,000 delegates from 100 countries. The conference will end with an honorary ceremony and reception for political leaders to be held tomorrow in Bandung, Indonesia.
