Within the first 10 days of each month the National Statistical Office of Mongolia presents macroeconomic indicators for the previous month. Today, the National Statistical Office has presented indicators for March.
In March 2015 the consumption price index increased by 0.8 percent in comparison with February, and by 9.3 percent in comparison with the same period of last year.
The price index for cloth and textile products rose by six percent. A rise in the price index for food and beverages is thought to have been influenced by the growth of the general index in March 2015, rising by 0.8 percent since February.
As of the end of March 2015, money supply reached 9.9 trillion MNT and decreased by 322 billion MNT (3.1 percent) and by 40.9 billion MNT (0.4 percent) in comparison with the same period of last year.
As of the end of March, cash turnover reached 702.8 billion MNT and decreased by 73.1 billion MNT, or by 9.4 percent compared to February. In comparison with the same period last year, it decreased by 98.3 billion MNT or by 12.3 percent.
Outstanding debt of businesses and individuals by the end of the month reached 12.3 trillion MNT and increased by 93.5 billion MNT (0.8 percent) in comparison with February, and by 889.5 billion MNT (7.8 percent) in comparison with the same period last year.
Total turnover of foreign trade in comparison with the same period of last year increased by 203.2 million USD (10.2 percent), imports by 294.2 million USD (29.5 percent), and export by 91.1 million USD (9.2 percent).
As of the first quarter of 2014, the foreign trade balance saw losses of 9.3 million USD, and at the end of the first quarter of 2015 there was a profit of 376.0 million USD.
