Mongolian cosmonaut J.Gurragchaa, together with Russian cosmonaut Vladimir A. Janibekov, made a journey to outer space on March 22, 1981, lifting off at 2:58 p.m. from the former Soviet Union’s launch pad in Baikonur Park.
They orbited Earth 124 times over eight days in outer space and landed successfully on March 30.
Marking the celebration of this historic day, a scientific conference is being organized today at Independence Palace on the topic of space flight.
The issues of modern space research, how to expand space research in Mongolia, and what kind of work needs to be carried in order to develop Mongolian aeronautics will be discussed.
