The
“Mongolians in Deel” festival took place on Tuesday at Sukhbaatar Square.
The citizens wore the traditional clothes just for this day. This event has
been organized for the fourth year with an aim to expand the tourists-targeted
products in accordance of the “Ulaanbaatar City Tourism-2015”
program. The event aims to advertise Mongolian culture to the world as well as
inspire the young generation with the national pride of nomadic culture.

National
clothes, Mongolian ger, handicrafts, carvings and national folk arts were
presented and propagandized in order to satisfy tourists and citizens. The
festival comprised the folk art concert, a parade-show of people in the deel, a
circus performance, Tsam Dance and ankle-bone shooting contest. The biggest
part of the event, the parade, gathered some 2,500 people.

Then
the best attendants were awarded. Awarding of the youngest person in deel seemed
to be the toughest decision for the jury. More than a hundred children and
babies were dressed in king’s and queen’s deels.

The
awarding of the most stunning couple was the most beautiful event as couples
wearing traditional deels of ethnic groups such as Khalkh, Bayad, Buriad,
Khasag, Kazakh and Torguud attended it.

Award
of the best foreign couple in the deel was won by a Chinese and Inner Mongolian
family, a Mongolian mother with her adopted Holland boy and a Mongolian woman
with her English boyfriend.
