A working group has been formed to study the impact on permanent historic and cultural sites if the Gatsuurt deposit is made open to mining, and will draw professional conclusions for moving forward on a decision to name it a strategic mining site.

By order of the Prime Minister of Mongolia, the working group to study the impact of Centerra Gold's Boroo mine groundwork on Hunuu era archaeological sites by utilizing the Gatsuurt gold deposit, located in Tuv aimag, Bornuur soum.

The working group's conclusions will be based on science and not the disseminated information regarding the Gatsuurt mine that has been shared among the public over the past few weeks.

The working group will be headed by Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Education and Science B.Tulga, and specialists from the Academy of Science, the Institute of History and Archeology, the Mineral Resources Authority, the Ministry of Mining, and the Ministry of Education and Science will cooperate on an analysis of the data presented.

The Prime Minister has made the working group responsible for introducing their findings and proposals to the government within the first quarter of the year.
