The Prime Ministers of Mongolia and Japan have concluded official agreements and signed an economic partnership agreement. After signing the agreement, the Prime Ministers of the two countries made a joint statement.

Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe:

Let me offer warm greetings to Mr. Ch.Saikhanbileg, Prime Minister of Mongolia, for his official visit paid to Japan.

After his appointment as Prime Minister of Mongolia, his first official foreign visit as a Prime Minister was paid to Japan. This proves that Mongolia highly values and considers Japan as a “third neighbor country”.

Japan and Mongolia are now at the closest relationship in their history.

This relationship is not limited to the governmental relationship but also to a cultural relationship, as the people of the nations respectfully approach the success of sumo wrestler Yokozuna Khakuho and other Mongolian wrestlers.

The Mongolian-Japanese economic partnership agreement has been signed after more than three years of discussion. We are delighted with this.

For Mongolia this is the first economic partnership agreement which will foster a relationship between countries. We believe that this will become an important foundation for fostering and moving forward on two objectives: to develop the economy as well as strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries.

We will put all our efforts towards realizing the economic partnership agreement and will cooperate with the Mongolian side.

As of today’s discussion, considering proposals from the Mongolian side, we have decided to provide an additional loan of 36 billion 850 million JPY for the construction of an international airport at Khushigin Khundi, which is going to be built by a discounted Japanese  yen loan.

In order to provide assistance for the expansion of medium and long term economic policy we have decided to send advisors from Japan.

Further, based on the strategic partnership with Mongolia we will put our efforts towards strengthening cooperation in foreign affairs, security, economy, culture and humanity.

Prime Minister of Mongolia, Ch.Saikhanbileg:

Honorable Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, first of all, let me express my gratitude for the honorable reception of our visit.

We are delighted that today we have signed the Mongolian-Japanese economic partnership agreement, which has been negotiated for more than three years, and that we have made a joint statement on objectives indicated in the strategic partnership mid-term program of Mongolia that Japan has fulfilled.

We would like to express gratitude for you, Honorable Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe, and for the two teams working on the agreement and the teamwork of the related ministries for assistance provided for moving the agreement forward.

Relying upon this agreement, we would like to express our willingness to introduce Japanese know-how, to supply commodity products to Japan and third markets, and to build a joint regional production network, economic network, and supply chain.

We are delighted that today’s discussion and conversation has been carried out in an open, friendly, and successful environment.

We believe that our issues discussed and the signed Mongolian-Japanese economic partnership agreement will make an important contribution to strong development and the enhancement of strategic partnership between our two countries in the future.

Honorable Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, we would like to wish you success and hope to meet in Mongolia for the next visit.
