The 6th annual National Forum on Renewable Energy opened at Corporate Hotel on January 23.
In his opening speech at the forum, Member of Parliament and Minister of Energy D.Zorigt stressed, “Mongolia has great resources of sun, wind, and water which can be used for renewable energy. Utilization of these resources and putting them into circulation with the support of advanced technology will become incentive for the development of renewable energy.
"The Ministry of Energy will actively cooperate with foreign countries and international organizations on the matter of studying the experience of the utilization and penetration of renewable energy in Mongolia. Mongolia has started its first steps on the utilization of renewable energy and has reached certain results and successes.
"Within the governmental program to supply energy to herder families, almost all herders are being provided with renewable energy.
"Most of world’s countries, in particular our neighbor China, has reached great success in the utilization of renewable energy. We should try our best in order not to fall behind.
"I believe that, today, during the national Forum, you will discuss issues on how to use our resources for the generation of renewable energy, how to reimburse the deficiency of energy by using renewable energy, and to widely use the technology of renewable energy for reducing air pollution in Ulaanbaaatar and settled areas. Moreover, we believe that you will share your valuable opinions and recommendations on the “Sector Development and Policy" document which is being newly elaborated on by the Ministry."
The President of the Assembly of Nature and Environment of United Nations, MP S.Oyun, is participating in the National Forum on Renewable Energy and presented a report on “Stable Development of Renewable Energy and its Perspectives”.
Afterwards, participants delivered speeches and reports on the following topics: National Program on Renewable Energy and its Legal Environment, Co-ordination Policy of the Renewable Energy Sector, and Co-ordination of Prices and Tariffs on Renewable Energy.
