Speaker of Parliament Z.Enkhbold gave an order to create a working group to make amendments to the Constitution, on January 13th. The working group will consist of 9 members, including MPs who were involved in the adoption of Mongolia's democratic constitution, and MPs of the Mongolian National Democratic Party (MNDP) and Civil Will and Green Party.
When a new, democratic constitution was adopted in 1992, MP D.Lundeejantsan, D.Demberel, L.Tsog, L.Bold, R.Gonchigdorj, S.Bayartsogt, and N.Batbayar were involved.
Two years ago the Speaker of Parliament established also a working group lead by Deputy Speaker L.Tsog to study if it was necessary to make amendments to the Constitution.
The working group conducted a study, involving researchers and scholars, and reached the conclusion that the Constitution needed to be amended partially.
The working group submitted their conclusions to caucuses in Parliament last year.
