German scholar of Mongolian studies Oliver Korff is being honored for his invaluable efforts and achievements in Mongolian studies with the presentation of the Kublai Khan Gold Medal, the highest award offered by the Mongolian Academy of Sciences. The award was presented to Korff at the Mongolian Academy of Sciences today, on January 10^th.

Oliver Korff is a prominent scientist and author who has devoted his life to pursuing knowledge of Mongolian studies. He has been the leader of a six-country international research team of linguists who have written a five-language dictionary and published a two-volume dictionary with five different indices in 2014.

The dictionary is a unique publication as it is not a traditional dictionary but a comparative work of Mongolian, Tibetan, Manchurian, Chinese, and Turkish dialects and made a traditional Eastern dictionary available to modern readers.
