MP D.Gankhuyag has been appointed as head of the Mongolia-Japan parliamentary group. The Mongolia-Japan parliamentary group is traditionally one of the more active groups in parliament. Bilateral relations between Mongolia and Japan have moved from comprehensive partnership into strategic partnership.
MP D.Gankhuyag worked as head of the Mongolia-Japan parliamentary group between 2004-2008 and 2008-2011. Since the 2012 parliamentary election, MP and Chairman of the DP D.Erdenebat has been the head of the Mongolia-Japan parliamentary group, but delayed the post following his recent appointment as Minister of Industry.
MP D.Gankhuyag suggested that the Japanese parliament build an economic partnership agreement (EPA), which has been negotiated by both sides for some time with preparation completed while he was head of the Mongolia-Japan parliamentary group in 2006. The agreement is expected to create a legal environment for bilateral economic, investment, and business relations between the two countries, then build on the opportunity for Mongolia to actively join economic integration in Northeast Asia.
Every year there is a project among members of the Mongolia-Japan parliamentary group to share experience. Mongolia and Japan plan to sign the ЕРА in 2015.
