The Government of Mongolia issued a resolution during Monday's cabinet meeting, setting quotas for hunting wild animals in 2015.

According to the resolution, based on 40 wildlife management areas in regions in 15 provinces, 2015 quotas for hunting will be as follows: 40 argali (Ugalz-male wild sheep), 60 ibex (wild goat), 15 red deer, 20 grey wolf, 10 roe deer, and 10 wild boar.

For wildlife hunting royalties in 2015, 2.1 billion MNT will be sent to local government budgets. No less than 50 percent of 2015 royalties will be spent on environmental protection,  wildlife management planning, building aquatic habitats for wildlife, and pasture restoration.

Currently 11 entities, 2 environmental protection communities, 10 partnerships, and 6 local NGOs are in charge of wildlife management in 58 areas.

According to wildlife management conducted with the support of local communities, it is estimated that there are over 6,000 ugalz (male wild sheep) and 12,000 ibex (wild goat) in Mongolia.
