The State Specialized Inspection Agency has delivered demands to the Customs Service seeking a ban on the export of semi-precious stones.

The move comes after irreparable damage has been done to the environment as local stone traders dig for rough red jasper. This kind of prospecting has been popular in recent years.

Two men were found dead after they went to dig for rough red jasper. Under a resolution issued by the provincial Governor's Office, police, the local Specialized Inspection office and environmental authorities have begun patrols but still can not control the illegal trade of semi-precious stones.

Police and the General Intelligence Agency will collaborate to discover individuals and groups who dig, collect or sell and support the semi-precious and colorful stone trade.
