A
new citizens’ registration system was inaugurated on Monday at a ceremony at
Government House attended by Prime Minister S.Batbold, First Deputy Premier N.Altankhuyag,
head of the State Registration Department (SRD) L.Monkhbayar, officials and
guests.

The
SRD head explained the way the revised system works. Batbold and Altankhuyag then
gave their fingerprints and photographs and became the first citizens to be
enumerated.

This
form of registration will make it easier to distribute money from the Human
Development Fund (HDF), issue birth certificates, ID cards and proof of domicile.
It will also help create a centralized database to give information and
references. State organizations will be able to share information, do away with
duplication of data, and make registration more informative.

People
can claim their remaining MNT50,000 from the HDF only after they are freshly
registered. Shares of the Tavantolgoi deposit will also be issued on its basis.
A total of 463 registration units will work countrywide.
