President Ts.Elbegdorj, who is on a work visit to Hungary, took part in the opening of the Mongol Studies Center at Eцtvцs Lorбnd University in Hungary.
The Department of Asian and Central Asian Studies at Eцtvцs Lorбnd University was founded 70 years ago. The department includes comprehensive Mongol Studies.
President Ts.Elbegdorj expressed special thanks to the university's scholars and researchers during his visit, and presented Mongolia's highest state award, the Golden Star, for their efforts and roles in the development of Mongol Studies. The President also bestowed two students with grants to study at the university under a Mongolian government scholarship.
President Ts.Elbegdorj also presented a 15,000 EUR grant from the Mongolian Government to Eцtvцs Lorбnd University to support Mongol Studies.
Eцtvцs Lorбnd University is one of the oldest universities in Hungary. The university was founded in 1635 in Nagyszombat, Kingdom of Hungary, (today Trnava, Slovakia) by the archbishop and theologian Pйter Pбzmбny. Study fields and main research areas of the eight faculties include education and psychology, humanities, informatics, law, primary and pre-school education, science, social sciences, and special education.
Currently, approximately 26,000 students study at Eцtvцs Lorбnd University and over 7,000 graduate students have graduated in 130 qualifications.
