A “flash mob” was in
action in Sukhbaatar Square on July 1 at 1.40 pm to commemorate the tragedy of
July 1 two years ago. The program, called “At least apologize!”, was organized.by
the club, Let’s Develop, which asked those present, including young people, the
elderly, surprised tourists, cultural workers and political representatives, to
freeze for five minutes.
Among those who froze
were MP Kh.Temuujin, who kept his gaze on the ground, singer BX and rapper
Quiza. The club said it had asked more than 300 people to come, but most of
them were late, seeing the freeze from a distance. The time was chosen as the first man was shot
by the police at 1.40 a.m. on the night of July 1, 2008.
A flash mob is the
name given to a largely random group of people in a public place who perform an
unusual and pointless act for a brief time, and then disperse. The unique form
of protest was first organized in New York in 2003 against the operation of the
city administration.
