The 2014 United World Wresting World Championship – women's freestyle competition concluded on the championship's fourth day in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. On the third day of women's freestyle, 19 year-old Mongolian freestyle wrestler S.Tserenchimed received the gold medal during the playing of the national anthem of Mongolia in Tashkent, on September 10th. S.Tserenchimed became Mongolia’s second-ever world champion in female wrestling with a 12-3 win in the 60kg event.
S.Tserenchimed started slow in the final but finished strong with a variety of low-level attacks against London 2012 Olympic Games bronze medalist Yulia Ratveich from Azerbaijan for a 12-3 victory.
S.Battsetseg brought Mongolia its first world championship victory in 59kg female wrestling in 2010. She is scheduled to wrestle in the 63 kg on Friday.
Last year, Mongolia's female freestyle wrestlers E.Sumiya and S.Battsetseg won silver, and T.Munkhtuya, O.Nasanburmaa and O.Burmaa claimed bronze in Budapest, Hungary.
A native of Khentii aimag, S.Tserenchimed has trained in freestyle wrestling since 2006, under the instruction of coach Ts.Khosbayar.
