The 11th sub-commission meeting of interregional and cross-border cooperation of the Mongolian-Russian Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technical Cooperation was held in Moscow, Russia, on August 25th.
The sub-commission meeting was held three years after the 10th meeting in Ulaanbaatar, in 2011. The sub-commission meeting comes just before Russian President V.Putin's state visit to Mongolia.
The 11th sub-commission meeting was chaired by Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister of Mongolia D.Gankhuyag and Deputy Minister of Regional Development of Russia Vasily Kopylov.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mongolia to the Russian Federation Sh.Altangerel, State Secretary of Ministry of Economic Development B.Shinebaatar, State Secretary of Ministry of Industry and Agriculture Kh.Zoljargal, and Consul General from Mongolia to Kyzyl in the Tuva Republic D.Ganbold were present to give speeches.
At the meeting, the parties agreed to establish a legal environment of interregional and cross-border cooperation between the two countries, step up the process of making amendments to the intergovernmental agreement on interregional and cross-border cooperation, and cross-border conventional rules between the two countries.
The parties also sought ways to simplify the regulations of customs control and inspections reciprocally, and signed a protocol to admit reciprocal customs control and inspection of certain goods. Both sides agreed to sign an intergovernmental agreement and plan on interregional and cross-border cooperation to intensify bilateral trade and economic cooperation in the near future. The parties also discussed studying opportunities to increase Mongolian meat product export to Russia and to hold a meeting on interregional and cross-border cooperation annually.
