The 75th anniversary of the Mongolian-Soviet victory at the battles of Khalkh Gol is being celebrated across the country from August 23-29. On the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the victory, Khalkh Gol sum has been awarded the Mongolian Order of Military Glory in accordance with a decree by President Ts.Elbegdorj.
Dozens of delegates arrived from Russia to Mongolia for the Khalkh Gol battles victory celebration. This is the first time that Russian border guards and delegates from the Border Service of the Federal Security Service have visited the Khalkh Gol in Mongolia.
The Russian delegates were welcomed by the Head of General Authority for Border Protection, Brigadier-General Sh.Lkhachinjav, and headed to Khalkh Gol sum where the battles occurred.
The Russian delegates are accompanied by the Deputy Head of the Border Guard Service of the Russian Federal Security Service, Lieutenant General Vladimir Streltsov, to attend the 75th anniversary celebrations.
Khalkh Gol sum is where the Soviet and Mongolian armies fought a massive tank battle against Japanese soldiers at the Mongolian border in August 1939.
