Foreign Affairs Ministers attends ASEAN Regional Forum

A Mongolian delegation chaired by Foreign Affairs Minister L.Bold participated in the  21st ASEAN Regional Forum in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, on August 10th. The ASEAN Regional Forum has become a formal, official, multilateral dialogue on politics and security  in the Asia Pacific region, consisting of member states, dialogue partners and participant countries. 

Foreign Affairs Ministers and Deputy Foreign Ministers of 28 countries including Russia, China, the USA, European Union, Korea, Japan, Australia and Mongolia gathered at the 21st ASEAN Regional Forum.

Foreign Affairs Minister L.Bold delivered a speech to the session, presenting Mongolia's policy to provide regional security and peace, and reported on President Ts.Elbegdorj's  Ulaanbaatar Dialogue initiative, Mongolia's effort to develop an international non-proliferation treaty, the country's contribution to peacekeeping operations, and Mongolia's foreign affairs policy priority to work more closely with regional organizations.

In the joint communiquй issued at the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, participants welcomed Mongolia's declaration of its nuclear-free status and reiterated commitments to work closely with the nuclear weapon states. Foreign Affairs Minister L.Bold held meetings with Chinese Foreign Affairs Minister Wang Yi and Russian Foreign Affairs Minister I.V.Morgulov, and exchanged opportunities for  bilateral and trilateral cooperation.

The main issues at the meetings were about preparation for high level visits by Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russia's President V.Putin to Mongolia.

In addition to the meetings with neighbor conutry Foreign Affairs Ministers, L.Bold held official talks with Foreign Affairs Ministers and Deputy Foreign Ministers of 11 countries, including Australia, Japan, South Korea, North Korea, Singapore, and Thailand.
