On July 23, 2014, President of Mongolia Tsakhiagiin Elbegdorj received Leader of the Mongolia-Japan Parliamentary Friendship Group Mr. Satsuki Eda. Mr. Satsuki Eda noted that he will continue to enhance inter-parliamentary relations between the two countries, and emphasized the importance that the both countries reached an Economic Partnership Agreement in principle, and expressed support to approve by the Parliament of Japan.
Then, President Elbegdorj met Governor of Shizuoka Prefecture Mr. Heita Kawakatsu. Shizuoka, famous for Mount Fuji, cooperates with Mongolia in various sectors. Shizuoka Prefecture has many processing plants and in recent years, it has expanded economic cooperation with Mongolia. At the meeting, parties touched upon issues of education and training of engineers and other personnel in Mongolian coal industry. President discussed opportunities to set up direct contacts between Mongolian local authorities and Shizuoka and other Prefectures.
Following this meeting, President Elbegdorj received Vice Chairman of Friendship Exchange Council /FEC/ of Japan Mr. Naohiko Ito. Friendship Exchange Council undertakes surveys to enhance economic cooperation in the region, organizes training and meeting with the representatives from the public and private sector of a certain countries to discuss issues related to economy, cultural relations and partnership.
President stressed: “Our two countries reach an Economic Partnership and there will be ample opportunities for cooperation. It is very important to inform the people of the both countries to take the opportunity. I hope that our cooperation with the Friendship Exchange Council will be fruitful, on the initiatives of conducting joint research, project and work”.
Afterwards, President Elbegdorj received Nikkei Group President Tsuneo Kita. Mr. Tsuneo Kita invited President Elbegdorj to the annual conference “Future of Asia”. The conference attracts heads of state and government of Asian countries, famous politicians, scientists and representatives from the international economic organizations such as International Monetary Fund. Also, newspaper Nikkei Weekly had taken an interview from President Elbegdorj.
