The first strategic consultative meeting between the Foreign Ministries of Mongolia and Japan was held in Tokyo, Japan on June 26th.
The meeting was chaired by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Mongolia D.Gankhuyag and Deputy Foreign Minister of Japan Shinsuke Sugiyama.
At the meeting, both parties gave their views on the development of a strategic partnership between Mongolia and Japan and the current situation and talked over future targets.
Both parties emphasized that the speech given by President Ts.Elbegdorj, where he agreed to expand the strategic partnership to the Japanese Parliament during his state visit to Japan in 2010, was a move to boost bilateral relations between the two countries.
Deputy Foreign Minister D.Gankhuyag highlighted the extent of the strategic partnership between Mongolia and Japan in politics, security, economy, culture, education and citizen participation and as well as in the regional and global arena.
The parties then agreed to implement a strategic partnership medium term program, particularly to intensify cooperation in the economic sector.
The Government of Mongolia is to hold a Mongolia-Japan Business Forum in cooperation with the Japanese association of business organizations (KEIDANREN) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) in July.
