Ninety-three
percent of MPs supported a proposal to give awards and monetary encouragement
to mothers who gave birth and raised many children. Those who bore six or more
children will receive a Grade One Star and MNT1 million each, while those with four
or five children will win a Grade Two Star and MNT500,000. The last census
showed that 53,903 of the 541,149 families in Mongolia in 2000 had more than four
children.
A
rough estimate says MNT96 billion will be needed every year to implement the decision.
