Beijing Olympic silver medalist Gundegmaa Otryad of Mongolia has won the Women’s 25m Pistol event on day four of the ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun in Munich, Germany. This the 7th gold medal that she has won in the World Cup.
The Mongolian athlete overtook silver medalist Munkhbayar Dorjsuren of Germany in the gold medal match. The final score was a sharp 8-0.
China's Zhang Jingjing came third. She easily defeated her teammate Ting Chen (8-2), a two time Olympic Medalist, in an all-Chinese match. Zhang, 25, won the gold medal in this discipline at the World Cup final in Munich last year.
Heidi Diethelm Gerber – a gold medalist in Fort Benning earlier this season – came very close to the fight for third place, but missed out on a medal. She was tied in fourth place with Ting Chen, but the Chinese athlete prevailed successfully in the shoot-off (which lasted two rounds) and made it to the bronze medal match. The 45-year-old from Switzerland took fifth place.
From Mongolia, athlete T. Bayartsetseg was placed 22nd with 578 points, and Ts.Munkhzul landed 34th place with 573 points.
12 Mongolian athletes including: IM E. Davaakhuu, O. Yanjinlkham, S. Adilbish and J. Gankhuyag are participating in the ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun. Team leader of the national team A. Enkhtur, and coach L. Undralbat are training them.
The ISSF World Cup Rifle / Pistol / Shotgun will be held until June 13th.
