The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia along with the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries and the Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States ( UN-OHRLLS) are preparing to organize a high-level international workshop on the “WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation: Implications for LLDCs” on June 2nd and 3rd in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.

The  high-level international workshop will represent 32 member states from the LLDC group, donor and transit countries including the UN Deputy Secretary-General and High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States Gyan Chandra Acharya, Minister for Trade, Commerce and Industry of Zambia, Robert Sichinga, Chairman of LLDC Group, Ambassador of Zambia, Mwaba Kasese-Bota and LLDC Group Coordinator on Trade and Development, Ambassador to UN in Geneva, Juan Esteban Aguirre Martinez.

Also the high-level international workshop will represent commissioners from dozens of international organizations such as the World Customs Organization (WCO), the World Trade Organization, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the International Trade Centre (ITC), commerce and industry representatives of several countries, state or private enterprises on trade facilitation and civil society, as well as researchers.

The International Studies Center of Landlocked Developing Countries that was established in Ulaanbaatar will deliver the study results on the “WTO Agreement on Trade Facilitation: Implications for LLDCs” at the high-level international workshop.

The high-level international workshop is expected to be a significant event in the preparation for the Second UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC) to be held in November.
