The President of Mongolia, Ts.Elbegdorj, who was to attend the IV Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Cooperation in Central Asia (CICA) met Chinese President Xi Jinping in Shanghai on Monday, May 19^th. After the official talks the two counterparts had breakfast. At the meeting the two counterparts had talks over bilateral ties on politics and economy, opportunity for enhancing Mongolia-China ties as well as regional cooperation.

As this year marks the 65th anniversary of China-Mongolia diplomatic relations as well as the Year of China-Mongolia Friendly Exchanges, the two counterparts exchanged views on the further development of bilateral ties. At the meeting, the two counterparts considered bilateral relations on infrastructure, coal gasification projects, transition transportation and sea port terms.  Both of the leaders emphasized that enhancing cooperation on mineral and energy industry is a priority in bilateral trade and economy.

Mongolia also called on China`s support for Mongolia`s bid to join APEC.

The talks between the two counterparts was scheduled for only a 40 minute slot, but the meeting continued for two hours because many issues were discussed in a friendly atmosphere.

President Ts.Elbegdorj invited Chinese leader Xi Jinping to make an official visit to Mongolia adding that “the visit would elevate the bilateral relations between Mongolia and China to new level.”

President Ts.Elbegdorj is scheduled to meet Russian President V.Putin today, May 20^th.
