A grand ceremony for the spectacular re-playing of the 1400 year-old Altay zither that was found in the Mongolian Altai mountains was held at ACA circus on May 16th, 2014.

At the grand ceremony the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia L.Bold and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to Mongolia, Gerhard Thiedemann, officially announced the Altay zither as a symbol of cultural relations between Mongolia and Germany as the re-playing of the Altai zither was held on the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and the Federal Republic of Germany.
This rare musical instrument that was found at an archeology dig in a tomb in Jargalant sum in Khovd is the first musical instrument to be found in Mongolia.
