A ceremony rewarding Mongolia`s peacekeepers who completed a mission in Afghanistan by the US government was held at the Ministry for Defense of Mongolia on May 17th.
At the ceremony, the Deputy Defense Minister A.Battur, senior staff of the Defense Ministry and Mongolian armed Forces, the U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia Mrs Piper Campbell, US congressmen Steve Chabot, Stephen Lynch, representatives of peacekeepers and military personnel were present.
A total of 4000 military personnel were deployed from Mongolia for the U.S. forces in Afghanistan operated under NATO command.
20 representatives of those 4000 peacekeepers were rewarded by the US Government with the Legion of Merit and Joint Service Commendation Medal and Army Commendation Medal, Army Achievement Medal.
Major general Ch.Ulaankhuu and colonel T.Ganbat were rewarded with the Legion of Merit, brigade general D.Bayarsaikhan, colonel D.Gankhuyag, colonel D.Enkhbaatar and colonel T.Ganbat were honored with the Joint Service Commendation Medal.
Major S.Samdangeleg, Major B.Purevdorj, Captain D.Munkhbaatar, first lieutenant M.Mendbileg and first lieutenant M.Tuguldur were awarded with the Army Commendation Medal.
First lieutenant D.Nyamsuren, lieutenant G.Ganbayar, lieutenant M.Davaanyam, sergeant E.Galbadrakh, sergeant D.Shijirbayar, sergeant Ch.Batnyam, sergeant B.Tumenjargal, sergeant B.Chinbat, sergeant B.Tumursukh, sergeant T.Tur-Amgalan and sergeant B.Batkhuyag were awarded with the Army Achievement Medal by the U.S. Ambassador to Mongolia Mrs Piper Campbell and US congressmen.
