Thursday`s plenary session meeting of Parliament discussed the request of MP and Minister of Agriculture and Industry Kh.Battulga to resign from his position as cabinet minister.
MPs raised questions and expressed their opinions, after which a vote was held.
The issue was first discussed in the Standing Committee meeting. MP Kh.Battulga gave his justification for the request to resign in a statement saying: “I supported the bill to make amendments into the Law on Government by the President, the so called double-coat bill, that was to ban a parliamentarian from holding a post in the cabinet. It is inappropriate for me to hold this position as I supported the bill myself.”
As a result of a vote over the request to resign by MP Kh.Battulga, 54 MPs of the attending 69 MPs approved the matter, and Kh.Battulga was dismissed from his position as Agriculture Minister, but still remains as an MP.
