In Zavkhan aimag, about 60 local motorcycle riders provide local transport services to local residents to make earnings.

The Provincial Department for Transport and Roads and the Local Police Department made a statement to the Governor`s Office of Zavkhan asking the practice of taking a motorcycle passenger to be banned, in order to prevent serious accidents.

Due to the statement, the Local Governor issued an order on April 28th to ban motorcycle passengers in the province. The new local rule banning motorcycle passengers will be effective from today. However, the rule is likely to be broken as it is doubtful that local residents will stop using the local motorcycle transport service because the motorcycle transport service is cheaper than the local taxi service.

In the countryside motorcycle transport services are popular, and this is blamed as the cause of the number of accidents related to motorcycles.
