Defense Minister D.Bat-Erdene is making an official visit to Japan upon the invitation of his counterpart, the Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera.

Mongolian officials lead by Defense Minister D.Bat-Erdene visited the National Defense Academy of Japan on Thursday April 17th. The President of the National Defense Academy of Japan, Ryosei Kokubun, welcomed Defense Minister D.Bat-Erdene and gave an introductory tour about the Academy. Minister D.Bat-Erdene met Mongolian officers and cadets at the National Defense Academy to learn about their studies and had lunch with them.

On Thursday afternoon Minister D.Bat-Erdene laid flowers to show respect to the military monument and memorial before he was welcomed by Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera with an honor guard.

After the ceremonial event, the two counterparts had official talks over bilateral defense policies, relations and cooperation and exchanged opinions on regional and global security issues.

The Defense Ministers of the two countries expressed satisfaction that bilateral defense relations have been extended and are moving ahead with new content based on principles of mutual interests. They also expressed satisfaction over deepening bilateral relations between the people of the two countries and increasing peace and stability.

Bilateral defense relations between Mongolia and Japan have been boosted successfully with reciprocal visits and exchanges of information on regional security issues, and also through consultative meetings and military staff trainings since 1995.

Mongolia and Japan have been collaborating closely on the two main areas of military engineering and military medicine in the past years.
