The President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), Mr. Akihiko Tanaka, presented the Capital City Governor and Ulaanbaatar Mayor, Erdene Bat-Uul, with the JICA President Award today in Ulaanbaatar city on April 17th.

In partnership with JICA, Ulaanbaatar city conducted “The Study on City Master Plan and Urban Development Program of Ulaanbaatar City” between 2007-2009 and submitted A Project on Capacity Development in Urban Development Sector in Mongolia by 2020, 2030 based on the previous study to be approved by Parliament.

These technical cooperation projects led to efforts to improve socio-economic and infrastructure development in Ulaanbaatar city. Thus, Mr. Akihiko Tanaka commented during a meeting that JICA decided to give its President Award to the Mayor Erdene Bat-Uul.

Ulaanbaatar city has developed long term cooperation with JICA. Now Ulaanbaatar city plans to launch long term, large scale projects with JICA to move ahead with economic development and to build an Ulaanbaatar metro and water cleaning facility.
