Mongolias Freestyle Wrestling team stand in fifth place

The World Cup of Freestyle Wrestling, the biggest team wrestling event in the world was held in Los Angeles, USA and Tokyo, Japan over two days on March 15th and 16th.

Mongolia`s freestyle wrestling male team finished the 2014 Men`s Freestyle Wrestling World Cup in 5th place. The Iranian freestyle team took the gold from the 2014 World Cup of Freestyle Wrestling.

Iranian athletes beat all their rivals in their A Group to reach the final of the FILA World Cup and won six of the final matches against Russian wrestlers. The United States freestyle team took the third place in the 2014 World Cup of Freestyle Wrestling.
Mongolia`s national freestyle team competed with the Indian freestyle team for the fifth place. However Mongolian athlete B.Nomin was forced to step down from the fight due to a knee injury, forfeiting to the Indian athlete.

In the second bout Mongolia`s athlete E.Nyam-Ochir brought the first win against India`s Bajrang with 6-5. In the men`s 65 kg event, State Merit Athlete of Mongolia, G.Mandakhnaran defeated India`s Rajneesh by 11-0 giving him no chance to win. In the following bouts, B.Ankhbayar and P.Unurbat lost to their competitors so India`s national team took a lead with 3:2 from the matches. But Mongolia`s O.Uitumen won the crucial victory by defeating India`s Pawan Kumar, 10-0.

In the last fights, Mongolia`s athlete D.Khuderbulga confirmed the team’s success with his win against India`s Saywart Kadian, 3-1.

Mongolia`s freestyle women`s national team also took fifth place in the Women’s Freestyle World Cup in Tokyo, Japan. The Japanese national team won the gold by defeating the Russian team 8-0, giving them the World Cup for the sixth time.

The Chinese freestyle team defeated the Canadian team 6-2 and took the bronze. Mongolia`s team finished 4-4 against the United States team, standing in fifth place. Mongolia`s freestyle team took second place in Ulaanbaatar in 2013.
