The National Emergency Management Agency and the Petroleum Authority reported on Tuesday about a fire that occurred at “Petro China Daqing Tamsag”, a mining operation financed entirely by China, on Monday March 10th.

According to the senior officials reports the fire occurred when shipping oil at around 08:48 pm on Monday. The scene of the fire was 10 vehicles of the 6th shift for oil export in the exploitation field of Toson Uul XIX in Matad sum in Dornod aimag. One of the 10 vehicles caught fire and exploded. Nearby vehicles were caught in the explosion and were burnt. During the accident the shift operator managed to shut the shipping pump down to prevent oil from leaking.

The fire was extinguished at around 02:30 am but the situation is still volatile at the site. Officials say that the fire was controlled before it could spread through the oil refinery and nearby buildings.
