Altargana – 2014, the International Buryat-Mongol festival that aims to keep, promote, pass on and modernize Buryat culture will be held between July 18th and 21st under the auspices of the Prime Minister of Mongolia.

This is the 20th edition of the International Buryat-Mongol festival, Altargana, which has been organized every two years since 1994.

The first stage of the festival will be conducted in provinces, regions and across various countries where Buryat people are resident on May 30th. The second stage of the festival will be held centrally in Dadal sum in Khentii aimag.

The festival will feature various contests in cultural activities including folk literature, ethnic song and dance, folk narrators, bards and storytellers and even folk and modern songs with the theme of “One day of Buryatia”. Also scheduled for the Altargana – 2014 International Buryat-Mongol festival there is an exhibition of traditional handicrafts and a beauty contest with the name “Fairy”.

The State Secretary for the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism, P.Altangerel, has been appointed as the head of the organizing committee.
