This year Mongolia will mark the 75th anniversary of the victory of the battle of Khalkhin Gol where the Soviet-Mongolian Army defeated Japanese forces in Eastern Mongolia and went on to have a fundamental impact on the way Japan conducted its World War II campaign in 1939.

The government issued a decision to celebrate the event for the 75th anniversary of the battle of Khalkhin Gol in August in commemoration of the soldiers` bravery who fought in the battle.

Today there remain 45 living soldiers who fought in the battle of Khalkhin Gol.

For the event dedicated to the 75th anniversary of the victory for the battle of Khalkhin Gol, the 100 year birthday of the outstanding heroes of the Mongolian People”s Republic, L.Dandar and Ts.Olzvoi, will be celebrated in their home places.

A Mongolia-Russian military joint exercise “Selenge-2014” will be held in Dornod at the same time as the events.
