The director of the civil assembly of Songinokhairkhan district, S.Bayart, and its Governor, Ch.Saikhanbayar, have submitted their resignation to the MPRP Executive Board. Both admit to having “worked wrongly and hindered government work”. Their requests have been passed on to the district unit.
The board has blamed them for irresponsible conduct and for working against the interests of party unity. The vice director of the party in Songinokhairkhan, G.Byambasuren, has been stripped of his party membership for divisive activity harmful to the party. The party’s General Inspection Bureau has found the work of the Songinokhairkhan unit to be very poor.
The director of MPRP’s Ethics Bureau, N.Tsagaankhuu, answered media questions on the developments.
What did the executive board discuss?
The board discussed the situation in Songinokhairkhan district, which has 250,000 citizens. There have been repeated complaints to the central leadership of the party about the performance of the Government there. After a review, the party agreed that the situation was seriously bad. There was total disunity among the civil representatives. Since the MPRP had won in Songinokhairkhan in the 2008 regional election, its nominees were the governor and the director of the civil representatives’ assembly. Since they could not control the situation, the executive board decided they were incompetent to hold their jobs. Now their successors will be named and presented to the civil assembly.
He said the board hoped their action would send the required message to their successors and other officials and would also reassure citizens that their complaints are taken seriously.
