The first of the scheduled weightlifting tournaments for this year, the Weightlifting National Junior Championships, was held in January.

This time the Weightlifting State Championships was held between February 15th and 16th in Ulaanbaatar. A total of 110 weightlifting athletes from 14 teams competed for the Weightlifting State Championships in nine men’s weight categories and seven women`s weight categories.

For the results of the tournament the weightlifting team from Darkhan-Uul trained by coach Selengebaatar took first place while the Samsuusan team trained by coach Khosbayar and Aldar sport committee trained by S.Erdenbayar coach took second place.
Avragch sport committee athlete Anujin in the women`s 58 kg event and Chagnaadorj in the men`s 56 kg event qualified as pro-sports vice masters.

The weightlifting athlete from Uvurkhangai aimag, G.Baasanjargal, who set a new record in the Weightlifting National Junior Championships in the 48 kg event also won gold at the Weightlifting State Championships.
