President Ts.Elbegdorj arrived at the opening ceremony of the 2014 Winter Olympics that took place at the First Olympic Stadium in Sochi, Russia, on February 7th 2014 along with the leaders of over 60 countries who were invited to the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympics.

President Ts.Elbegdorj, fond of climbing, skiing, biking and tennis, was planning to see the women`s hockey and team figure skating events as well as the opening ceremony during his stay in Sochi. However he could not manage to because of his busy schedule. But on 8th February before leaving President Elbegdorj visited the Olympic village and spoke with the Mongolian Olympic team to wish them success.

During his visit to the Olympic village, President Elbegdorj met the mayor of the Endurance Olympic Village, three-times world champion, Vancouver Olympic bronze medalist, Biathlete Maxim Chudov.
