The Tsagaan Sar Wrestling Tournament for the Victorious Blue Wooden Horse Year, according to the lunar calendar, was held at the at the Wrestling Palace on Bituun or New Year`s Eve, January 30th. The leading 256 wrestlers from both states and aimags competed in the event.

In the 8th round of the Wrestling Tournament, the State Garuda D.Ragchaa became the winner by defeating aimag lion O.Khangai among four wrestlers including the state garuda B.Gonchigdamba and state elephant Ch.Sanjaadamba who were eliminated for the 7th round.

The 24 year-old, Aimag lion O.Khangai proved to be an up and coming young talent by challenging the leading wrestlers until the final round. O.Khangai, a native of Khovd province won the title of aimag lion last year during the summer Naadam in Khovd province. O.Khangai beat state lion Kh.Munkhbaatar in the 5th round and mastered state giant S.Munkhbat in the 6th round and Ch.Sanjaadamba in the 7th round making his way to the final round.

During the Tsagaan Sar Wreslting Tournament, Ulaanbaatar Khivs LLC awarded O.Khangai with the prize for the newest talented wrestler, and the prize for a wrestler being a giant by former MP L.Gundalai.

Former wrestling giant A.Sukhbat awarded the prize of “future giant” to a young wrestler, a native of Selenge province, N.Jargalbayar.

The prize under name of Kyokushu Group was given to state garuda, a native of Sukhbaatar province, Ch.Uvgunkhuu.
