According to a decade long report by the Blood Transfusion Center the number of donors increased from 10,845 in 2000 to 20,854 in 2012. The need for blood and blood related transfusions doubled to 9378 in 2012 from the recorded 4825 in 2000.
There is an increasing demand for blood donations as trauma and accidents have risen as the cause of the death in the past five years. The Government of Mongolia and Ministry of Health are paying special attention to secure the needed blood donations.
