According to the Lunar calendar the first day of spring or Tsagaan Sar occurs on January 31st, the same day as the Chinese traditional New Year. Therefore there will be some changes to the working hours of crossings on the border between Mongolia and China.

During Tsagaan Sar the border crossing points Altanbulag, Sukhbaatar and Ereentsav near the border between Mongolia and Russia will work according to the fixed timetable. No changes will be made to the train time schedule. However road border points will close on the 1st and 2nd day of Tsagaan Sar. From this year the first three days of Tsagaan Sar are marked as official holiday, but the change has not yet been discussed in bilateral negotiations between Mongolia and Russia. So the crossings will close on the first two days of Tsagaan sar only and work on the third day according to the time schedule.

The crossing on the border between Mongolia and China will close for three days from February 1st to February 4th as the celebration of the two countries occurs on the same days. The road crossing points will work according to their time schedule. Civilians who plan to head to China on the 1st and 2nd days of Tsagaan Sar can take the train. The Ulaanbaatar-Erlian, Ulaanbaatar-Huhhot and Ulaanbaatar-Beijing trains will be available despite the holiday.
