The 17th Annual national contest of Beautiful Writing of Mongolian Script was successfully held on Monday January 6th. The Mongolian script competition was organized by Khumuun Bichig newspaper of Montsame agency.

Over 1000 contestants from almost every province except Bayan-Ulgii and Sukhbaatar participated entered the contest. It has become a traditional contest since the first winner of the Beautiful Writing of Mongolian Script was awarded the Prime Minister`s prize in 2000.

The Beautiful Writing of Mongolian Script was conducted under six categories. Winners in the high school category, an 11th grade student of Mongen complex school Ts.Dari, 11th grade student of a school in Khairkhan sum in Arkhangai province E.Nyamjargal and a student of a complex school Tsast altai in Khovd province G.Urgamal were presented with a certificate to study at the national universities with Government free grants for four years.

In the category of trained inspectors a teacher for Mongolian language and literature in Odon complex school in Darkhan-Uul province B.Bujinlham came in first place and a teacher of 49th secondary school in Ulaanbaatar, B.Purevsuren, took second place and a teacher of Mongen complex school Z.Altannavch won third place.

In the adult category, a graduate student of the Mongolian National University T.Tumendemberel won first place and a student from the Mongolian State University of Education, Z.Byambasuren, and student of Orkhon university, B.Suvd, took second and third places for their works.

In the non-text category, a teacher from the 3rd general education school in Saintsagaan sum in Dundgovi province, D.Otgonsuren, took first place and student of 23rd secondary school in the City, Ts.Anujin, and G.Batjavkhlan took the second and third places.

The overall winners of the Beautiful Writing of Mongolian Script were a citizen in Sukhbaatar district, a Mongolian calligrapher, Ts.Byambajav, who took first prize and artist of Bichig soyol center E.Ankhbayar and student of 114th school in Khan-Uul district B.Oyuntsetseg took the second and the third prizes for their beautiful works.
