
The national unemployment rate figure is also influenced by uncertainty surreounding new graduates in Mongolia and abroad, as well as the self-employed searching for different work. Unfortunately this is only the figure of registered unemployment that can be used and measured. It is speculated that there are also those people who are unemployed who are not active job searchers or do not register to the labor market. These numbers are expected to be much more than the registered job seekers in Mongolia.
Statisticians underline a particular group of society. This is the economically active population. Nationwide, it samples 1176.0 thousand people aged above 15 years in the November 2013 report. This is a figure of people of working age who can earn a living, 52.6 percent out which are male and 47.4 percent are female.
The economically inactive population includes mothers who stay at home to baby-sit, students, pupils, job seekers, disabled people and elderly people. So there is in fact a continuous increase of unemployment, which put pressure on demands to seek work actively.
In Mongolia the Khoroo is the smallest administration unit which provides the figure of registered job seekers from its data. Nationwide, the total figure of unemployed and those without income is calculated by data reports from khoroo and the labor market. Sometimes the report is based on studies by international organizations.
