Minister for Defense, D.Bat-Erdene, accompanied by Mongolian defense delegates, is paying an official visit to Qatar at the invitation of the Minister of State for Defense Affairs, Maj Gen Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah, between December 3rd and 7th, 2013.

Minister for Defense D.Bat-Erdene was received by the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani. D.Bat-Erdene expressed his satisfaction that bilateral relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Qatar have deepened in all fields with new concepts and spoke about his views on the significance of bilateral cooperation on mutually beneficial large scale projects.

The parties also emphasized the priority role of bilateral defense relations in expanding bilateral relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Qatar.

At the end of the meeting Minister for Defense D.Bat-Erdene delivered President Ts.Elbegdorj`s invitation to the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, to visit Mongolia. The Emir of the State of Qatar received the invitation.

Minister for Defense D.Bat-Erdene and Minister of State for Defense Affairs of Qatar, Maj Gen Hamad bin Ali Al Attiyah had an individual meeting for official talks.

During the meeting the two counterparts exchanged views on global and regional security issues, current trends of bilateral defense cooperation, future perspectives and cooperation issues between the two countries.

Mongolia established diplomatic relations with Qatar in 1998. Bilateral defense relations and cooperation between Mongolia and Qatar were formalized when the Mongolian Armed Forces and the Qatar Armed Forces signed a cooperation agreement in 2007.
