The Mongolian State Academic Theatre
of Opera and Ballet celebrated the 40th anniversary of “Uran Khas” by
the prominent Mongolian conductor, composer and violinist Jamiyan
Chuluun on Sunday December 1st. “Uran Khas” which has been performed for
40 years at the Mongolian State Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet
without a break is the first professional ballet in Mongolia.

On
the night of the anniversary, invitations were extended to the spouse
of prominent conductor Jamiyan Chuluun, Doljin, his son, conductor
Ch.Chinbat and all time starring ballet dancers in the roles of Khas and
Khandarmaa of “Uran Khas” ballet, descendants of Gelenkhuu, whose true
story inspired the ballet.

On the 40th anniversary of “Uran
Khas” ballet, MCS Group in association with the Mongolian State Academic
Theatre of Opera and Ballet completed a digital version of the musical
score of “Uran Khas” ballet under the project “Restoration for national
classic works musical note, full score and clavier”.

The
“Restoration for national classic works musical note, full score and
clavier” project is one of several projects that MCS Group has launched
under the initiative of the National heritage protection program. Under
the project of national unique cultural heritage, over 40 classic
Mongolian works including the first professional ballet “Uran Khas”, the
first Mongolian opera, “Three Dramatic Characters,” and the “Chingis
Khaan” opera will be restored and launched in digital versions.

“Uran
Khas” was first staged in Mongolia in 1973 by conductor Ch.Jamsranjav
and choreographer  B.Jamiyandagva. “Uran Khas” ballet by J.Chuluun was
inspired by the true story of Gelenkhuu, an ordinary man from Khuvsgul
aimag who wanted to fly on his own using home-made wings.
