
For nine months 850 Mongolian troops served in the Motorized Infantry battalion in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).
A ceremony for the return of the soldiers took place at the air training base in Ulaanbaatar on Saturday. During the ceremony Mongolia`s President Ts.Elbegdorj congratulated the soldiers who had completed their mission successfully in UNMISS. President Ts.Elbegdorj awarded the Mongolian peacekeepers medals for keeping the peace.
The President`s elder son E.Erdene was one of those proud Mongolian peacekeepers who were awarded medals for keeping the peace by the President on this day.
Over the past few years Mongolian soldiers have successfully participated in peacekeeping activities in Sierra Leone, Chad, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kosovo, Georgia, Iraq and South Sudan.
