
Nalaikh Lifeguard Division received a mine accident call at around 11:50 pm. When lifeguards arrived at the site the miners were trapped by a wreckage 50 meters down inside the open pit. Lifeguards made holes near another mine to access the miners and saved the miners at around 2:00 am in the morning. As a result of the successful life-saving operations the trapped miners, aged between 21-51, were able to return home with no casualties. All miners were found safe and sound.
Currently 1,235 miners are employed in 185 mines in Nalaikh. During the height of the winter season gold diggers who mine all day and night are at high risk of accidents.
