The plea by the chairman of Mongolia Immigration Agency asked for an easing of requirements for financial documentation (certificate of deposit balance over $3,000 USD or a certificate of remittance or exchange) and to reduce the period between 14-21 days for the visa application deadline. The Embassy of the Republic of Korea promised to reply as soon as possible to resolve the issues.
There have been numerous complaints by Mongolian visitors to South Korea because the South Korean visa requirements are very difficult causing more trouble than it is worth. Mongolian citizens who are ordinary passport holders usually spend too much time and money collecting numerous additional required documents for the visa application.
There are many occurrences where students are rejected for visas. An applicant to study abroad who has applied and paid tuition fees for a school in Korea and collected all the additional documents for the visa application required by the Embassy and even had a certificate of deposit balance of over 10 million MNT can be rejected.
As a result the applicant to study in South Korea loses the chance to apply to a national university or college that year.
