Ulaanbaatar City Administration proposed a bid to privatize Tengis movie theatre, which is 34 percent owned by the City Administration and 66 percent owned by parliamentarian S.Batbold and Chairman of APU JSC P.Batsaikhan, in 2014. Tengis movie theatre has three showrooms and now receives 800,000 visitors a year.

Tengis movie theatre, which changed its name from Yalalt (Victory), is thought to be a lucrative and busy entity, with youth frequenting the theatre all day and night in Ulaanbaatar.

South Korean company “Wayrich Resource Asia” once owned 66 percent of Ulaanbaatar Cinema LLC”s Tengis Movie Theatre and invested in restoring and renovating it with the latest technology in 2003. Later the current owners MP S.Batbold and Chairman of APU JSC P.Batsaikhan bought out 66 percent from the South Korean company “Wayrich Resource Asia”.

The Ulaanbaatar City Administration short-listed the bid of Tengis movie theatre’s privatization for 2014.  But the final bid will be decided at the Ulaanbaatar City Citizens` Representative Khural.
